Directions to Our Practice
If you’ve never been to our practice before, here are two easy routes you could take, using the Fairfield Public Library as the starting point:
- Take Old Post Rd southeast, then turn left onto Oddfield Rd. AT the end of the block, turn left onto Beach Rd, and after you pass the First Church Congregational on the left, turn right into our parking lot.
- You could go the other way around the block instead, taking Old Post Rd northwest. Turn right onto Post Rd, then right again onto Beach Rd. We’re the second building on the left, and our parking lot is right after our building. You’ll find us at 111 Beach Rd on the 2nd floor.
How Much Local History Do You Know?
Fairfield, Connecticut, was founded in 1639 by Puritans and Congregationalists from the Massachusetts Bay Colony seeking to establish a community under their own ecclesiastical rules. The town was part of a broader effort by these settlers who had already established nearby towns such as Windsor, Wethersfield, and Hartford following permission from the Massachusetts General Court. Fairfield was one of the original towns that adopted the Fundamental Orders, which declared Connecticut a self-ruling entity. Over the years, Fairfield grew and evolved, giving rise to several new towns such as Redding, Weston, Easton, Bridgeport, and Westport.
Throughout the American Revolutionary War, Fairfield was a center of Patriot support, leading to its attack and burning by British troops in 1779. This early history of conflict gave way to prosperity during the First World War as Fairfield residents, propelled by the economic boom in nearby Bridgeport, moved towards a more suburban lifestyle. The town continued to expand through the 20th century, significantly influenced by the development of transportation such as the trolley and the Connecticut Turnpike, and became a significant residential suburb.
